Tony Award winning actress Daisy Eagan and her boyfriend, writer, Kurt Bloom, just announced the birth of their (completely unplanned, yet gleefully welcomed) first child, Monty Harrison Eagan-Bloom. Monty was born at 3:53 am on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Cedars Sinai Hospital is Los Angeles. Monty entered this world at 7 pounds 14 ounces, 20 and 1/2 inches long. Both mother and baby are happy and healthy. Eagan said, "Monty is perfect and amazing. His interests include eating, sleeping, pooping and watching Mad Men. And, as our neighbors are quickly learning, he is a coloratura."

Fans of Eagan are familiar with her work as Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden which won her the 1991 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, making her the youngest actress ever to win a Tony Award. Eagan moved to Los Angeles in 2003 where she continues to act on the stage (winning the 2006 LA Weekly Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical) as well as adding a collection of TV roles (Ghost Whisperer, Without a Trace, Numbers and The Unit) to her resume. She took a four year hiatus from acting, returning in 2011 with a string of theater roles including both the New York and first national tour productions of Love, Loss and What I Wore, and a guest starring role on the hit CBS show, The Mentalist. Eagan wrote and starred in two one woman shows, including her most recent Daisy Eagan: F Off. I Love You., in which she announced her unplanned pregnancy to the world in November of 2012

Most recently Eagan has been drawing new audiences with her presence on Twitter (twitter.com/DaisyEagan) for tweets Michael Musto of The Village Voice called "Bawdy" and "Hilarious", and with her blog "Broadway Baby" (www.daisyeagan.com) in which she chronicles with brutal honesty, insight and wit the ups and downs of an unexpected pregnancy while navigating a return to acting. Her blog draws a wide audience, with thousands of readers and has been syndicated on Blogher.com. Eagan's sardonic voice is one not found on most "mommy blogs" and her candor is a refreshing addition. Some choice tweets from @daisyeagan include:

Pediatrician gave kudos to Kurt for the size of our son's balls. I wonder what he would have said to me if we'd had a girl..

I have a job interview tomorrow for a temp job packaging human breast milk. I also have a Tony award.

Went to a new gynecologist today. About an hour and a half into giving her my sexual history I realized, I am SUPER fun!

Facebook is like a public service announcement for this country's need for education reform.

With Monty's arrival Eagan will begin blogging her experiences with motherhood from her unique perspective. Follow Daisy on twitter (@DaisyEagan) and on her blog http://www.daisyeagan.com/search/label/broadway-baby-blog to get all the updates on her hilarious adventures in parenting.
