Tony Award-Winning Roger Bart's THE LAST MAN Makes US Premiere at NY Shorts Fest Tonight, 5/30

Tony and Drama Desk Award-Winner Roger Bart stars in a short film, The Last Man, making its US premiere at the NY Shorts Fest tonight, May 30th. Bart will star as Will, a prisoner, who is receiving chemotherapy next to a father of two. They are both at the end of their lives and realize they are more connected than they thought.

Bart has received a Tony Award (You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown), Drama Desk Award, and a Screen Actor’s Guild Award (Ensemble of Desperate Housewives). His Broadway credits include Producers, Young Frankenstein and The Frogs.

Beth Curry, the writer and director of The Last Man, met Roger Bart while performing as Elizabeth in the national tour of Young Frankenstein. “Roger is an incredible actor and I knew as a first time writer/director, I needed to surround myself with actors who brought a lot to the table. And Roger does exactly that. With ease and grace,” said Curry.

The Last Man was inspired by and dedicated to the memory of Beth Curry’s father, Jim Daly, who recently lost his battle to cancer in December of 2011. “It’s a piece that grapples with the many colors of one’s mortality. When faced with your own death, what do you choose to hold on to and what do you choose to let go of? It’s a piece about forgiveness at its best,” said Curry.

The Last Man was awarded Best Short Film at the Monaco Charity Film Festival earlier this month.

The Last Man will play as a part of the NY Shorts Festival tonight, May 30th at 5:15 at the Landmark Sunshine Cinema 143 E. Houston St., New York, NY 10002.
