Welcome to BroadwayWorld's Tony Award Countdown: 30 Years In 30 Days, a look at some of the Tony Awards' most memorable moments from the past three decades.

Woman in comedy roles usually aren't recognized with Tony Awards, especially if their Broadway play had closed nearly four months earlier. But during the chilly months of the 2006-07 theatre season, all of Times Square was raving about the insanely funny performance of Julie White in Douglas Carter Beane's THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED.

She had already earned an Obie Award for her Off-Broadway Second Stage run as an acerbic lesbian Hollywood agent desperately trying to keep her hunky gay emerging star client in the closet, but judging from White's reaction after her name was called, she was probably attending the Tony ceremony prepared to be "happy to just be nominated."

The American Theatre Wing's 70th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Tony Award winner James Corden, will air on the CBS Television Network on Sunday, June 12, 2016 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
