Producers Hal Luftig and Scott Sanders have just announced EVITA will resume preview performances tonight, March 14, 2012 at 8pm at the Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway).

As reported, the deluge curtain went off yesterday, Tuesday, March 13 and the evening performance was cancelled. The crew worked through the night to clean up, repair and replace items as needed. To ensure that all systems have been effectively re-installed, the company will rehearse on stage this afternoon and there will be no 2pm matinee performance today. For patrons with tickets to this afternoon’s matinee preview performance, please return to point-of-purchase for refund or exchange. Following a triumphant, sold out first preview on Monday, March 12, the cast, creative team and crew are eager and excited to resume performances this evening, Wednesday, March 14.

With a score by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, this first new Broadway production of EVITA is directed by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Michael Grandage and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Rob Ashford. The musical stars Grammy-winning international pop icon Ricky Martin as Che, Olivier Award-winning Argentinean actress Elena Roger in her Broadway debut as Eva Perón—a role that earned her critical acclaim in the 2006 production in London’s West End—and Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris as Juan Perón. EVITA played its first preview performance to a sold-out audience on Monday, March 12 and will open on April 5, 2012.

The EVITA performance schedule is Monday–Saturday at 8:00PM, with matinee performances on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2:00PM. Beginning April 10, 2012, Tuesday performances will start at 7:00PM. Tickets range from $67-$142, and are on sale now. Purchase online at Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or by visiting the Marquis Theatre Box Office at 1535 Broadway (entrance on 46th Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue) in New York City.
