Charismatic stage performer and acclaimed MATILDA songwriter Tim Minchin drops some hints about his new stage musical in a new interview, confirming it will be yet another collaboration with director Matthew Warchus, among other tidbits.

Minchin reveals that the musical has been in the works for over half a year and he is currently hard at work composing the score. "It's still embargoed even though I've been working on it for six months," Minchin noted, continuing, "but it's a very interesting, arty but much-loved early '90s film we are adapting for the stage: very conceptual, somewhat Stoppardian."

Furthermore, Minchin compares the new musical project to his current West End and Broadway mega-hit MATILDA, based on the celebrated children's classic by Roald Dahl. "It will be more complex and dark [than MATILDA]. Even though I am working on it with Matthew Warchus, who was the architect and director [of MATILDA], we are going to try and start it quietly."

While the details are clearly quite scant at this point in the development of the project, we can assume that Minchin will bring his trademark wit and way with a winning melody to the new musical collaboration with Warchus - whatever it is.

Also, Minchin was recently seen on tour around the UK and in Australia as part of the new arena tour production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, which will be released on DVD/Blu-ray in the US this Fall.
