Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton is set to make her Broadway debut in her solo performance piece, The Maybe, following a recent run at New York's Museum of Modern Art. The Maybe, which will be produced by Fran and Barry Weissler and directed by Walter Bobbie, is expected to open in the early fall of 2013 at a Broadway theatre to be announced.

Premiering in 1995 in London and playing in Rome the next year, The Maybe is a performance art piece that will have Swinton asleep on stage in a glass display box.

"I'm very excited to be making my Broadway debut," says Swinton. "Up until now I thought of The Maybe as more of a museum installation than theatre, but Barry Weissler convinced me that with Walter Bobbie's help we can adapt it for the stage without making artistic compromises. Normally the piece runs for eight hours but we've been finding places to cut it down to a more manageable length. And of course, with revisions there come other adjustments like deciding when to roll over or when to snore, but those are things we can work out in rehearsals and previews."

"When I heard that Tilda was giving performances of The Maybe at MoMA last week, Fran and I immediately rushed over to see it," explained Barry Weissler. "It was thrilling to see the audience respond so enthusiastically to something so fresh and original. I've never imagined people would be so excited to see a celebrity asleep, and I'm the guy who put George Hamilton in Chicago."
