Tickets for HENRY V at Promethean Theatre Ensemble Go On Sale
Promethean Theatre Ensemble announces that tickets are now on sale for their upcoming production of William Shakespeare's Henry V.
Henry V will be directed by Promethean Theatre Ensemble's Executive Director Brian Pastor and feature PTE ensemble members Nick Lake (as Henry), David Fink and Shawna Tucker. Guests artists for the production are Jerry Bloom, Zach Bloomfield, Jared Dennis, Catherine Gillespie, Adam Habben, Drew Johnson, Edward Kuffert, John Arthur Lewis, Carl Lindberg, Drew Longo, Laura Skokan, Judy Lea Steele and Jeremy Trager. The production staff includes Daniel Carlyon (sound), Liz Cooper (lights), Joe Dybdal (set), Paul Edwards (projections), John Arthur Lewis (text coach), Amy Hiber (costumes), and ensemble member Tyler Rich (fights).
Since Shakespeare's first production, Henry V has always been a popular choice. It is nevertheless an unusual choice for a storefront theater. Director Brian Pastor intends to approach the piece without trying to "recreate a specific time and place in minute detail," but rather "give the audience a sense of what it feels like to experience this story." He will use anachronistic images, sounds and styles to "free the play from the constraints of period. I want to create for the audience an impression that allows them to leave the theater asking themselves and others questions about what they saw and how it might relate to their own lives, to their own worldview."
Henry V will run from May 5 to June 2, 2012 at The Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. with performances taking place Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Opening night will be on Saturday, May 5 at 8 p.m. (the Friday May 4 performance is a preview). There is also an added performance for the convenience of the press on Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased through the Athenaeum at www.athenaeumtheatre.org or 773-935-6875.
