Theo Ubique Names New General Manager, Assumes Full-Time Residency of Performance Space

By:

Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre announces Adam Webster has joined the company as general manager. He assumes responsibility for the Rogers Park-based theatre's finance, operating and administrative functions.

Adam is well known in the Chicago theatre community. He founded the side project, a theatre company located in the Rogers Park neighborhood, in 2000. He has since managed the day-to-day administrative and artistic operations of that company, producing more than 60 shows. He continues to serve as its artistic director.

"We're pleased to have Adam join us at this exciting time in Theo Ubique's history," said Fred Anzevino, Theo Ubique co-founder and artistic director. "He understands the business and the artistic demands of running a theatre, and he knows the Chicago theatre landscape."

Previously, Adam founded The Rodney & Myrtle Acting Troupe, a summer theatre company that operated in Portland, Oregon, from 1990-1996, and Active Culture Theatre Group, which produced a three-show season in 1998-1999 in Los Angeles. He also has a publishing background, ranging from being a section editor of his small-town newspaper to the Executive Editor of the country's largest real estate appraisal-related trade magazine and online newsletter.

"I am thrilled to bring my management expertise to Theo Ubique," Adam said. "I'm looking forward to building on the company's many recent successes as we embark on our first four-show pre-announced season and assume exclusive residency of our performing home, the No Exit Café."

Adam replaces Martha Hudak, who left the company to pursue other interests.

Separately, Theo Ubique has signed an agreement with Michael James to lease the theatre's long-time artistic home, the No Exit Café, for two years. Theo Ubique assumes exclusive residency of the space where the company has performed since 2004.

"Rogers Park is Theo Ubique's home and we're delighted to make this commitment to remaining here," said artistic director Fred Anzevino. "Exclusive residency provides the company more stability and allows us to open the 2011/12 season with upgrades that make the space more comfortable for our audiences and artists."
