Theatre of the Expendable to Present THREE SISTERS

By:

With only six actors playing all the roles in their upcoming production of THREE SISTERS, Theatre of the Expendable will be presenting Chekhov's original story – the story of how we wish for what we won't get, of how we haggle over an unknown future, and of how time ruins us all – in a new way. Presented true to the original script and staged in a nontraditional method, Theatre of the Expendable will bring THREE SISTERS back to Chekhov's comedic tradition.

THREE SISTERS features David Ian Lee, Clinton Lowe, Caitlin McColl, Kendall Rileigh, Alexander Yakovleff, and Morgan Anne Zipf.

The creative team for THREE SISTERS includes Wilburn Bonnell (Lighting Designer), Shaun Orbin (Props Designer), Geoffrey Roecker (Sound Designer), Stephanie Tucci (Scenic Designer) and David Withrow (Costume Designer).

The production, produced by Theatre of the Expendable, will play at the The Dorothy Strelsin Theatre at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex (312 West 36th Street, 1st Floor) December 4-21 Thursday-Saturday at 8pm & Sunday at 2pm. Tickets ($12) are available online at www.SmartTix.com or by calling 212-868-4444.

Theatre of the Expendable (TotE)'s mission

"To develop and produce provocative theatre for the general public that will challenge and expand existing perceptions regarding persons and groups whom society has given up on and who have given up on themselves. To keep admission prices well below market value so that we may develop new and broader audiences who may not have access to a wide variety of culture."

That's the official, lawyer-speak version. In theatre-person terms, how would we translate that?

"We develop and produce plays that ask our audience members how people become expendable. Also, since we view no audience member as expendable, we keep our ticket prices low – often lower than, and never higher than, the price of an average movie theatre ticket."

Theatre of the Expendable has previously produced Dick 2, The Tragedy of John, The Ocean is Big and the Sky is Blue, Cherry Docs (nominated for three New York Innovative Theatre Awards including "Outstanding Actor in a Lead Role", "Outstanding Director", and "Outstanding Production of a Play") and Mare Cognitum (FringeNYC 2008).
