Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) President and CEO John C. Breckenridge announced today TUTS' 2012-2013 Season: From Camelot To Spamalot - A Lot To Love, running October 2012 through June 2013 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. "We're proud to introduce the line-up for our 45th season. From the comedies to the dramas and the family favorites to the reinvented classics, there's going to be a lot to love next season," says Breckenridge.

October 9 - 21, 2012

Jekyll & Hyde

The legend returns! Jekyll & Hyde, the musical that has fascinated audiences around the globe, returns in an all-new production to Houston, the city where it first saw the light of day. After four thrilling, chilling years on Broadway and multiple world-wide tours, the dark and dangerous love story from Tony and Grammy Award nominee Frank Wildhorn returns in a stunning new pre-Broadway production. Thrill anew to all the classic songs that first grabbed audiences by the throat and transformed Jekyll & Hyde into a theatrical phenomenon. Starring in the dual title role of Dr. Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde, American Idol star and Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis injects new life into the classic tale of good and evil. Audiences will gasp and swoon to soaring songs like "This Is The Moment" and "Someone Like You" during Jekyll & Hyde, running October 9 – 21, 2012 at TUTS.

Peter Pan

Tony-Award nominee Cathy Rigby takes flight in an all new production of Peter Pan! Discover the magic all over again of this two-time Emmy Award winning and two-time Tony Award nominated production. The New York Times says, "Rigby still carries off the flights, fights and acrobatics that make Peter Pan audiences mesmerized." Peter Pan is filled with timeless magical moments and a captivating hook. The legend you thought you knew is now the adventure you never dreamed possible…Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan! Filled with tunes including "Neverland" and "I Won't Grow Up," the young and young-at-heart will relive the wonder of one of the most beloved family musicals December 11 – 23, 2012 at TUTS.

January 22 - February 3, 2013

Camelot

Experience Camelot's "one brief shining moment" as Lerner and Loewe envisioned it in one of theatre's wittiest musicals. Recount the enduring legend of King Arthur, Guenevere, Lancelot, and the Knights of the Round Table in an enchanting fable of chivalry, honor, and brotherhood in this four-time Tony Award winning show. Dazzling and spellbinding with sweeping romance, historic grandeur, and heart-breaking drama, Camelot speaks to our time and for all time. The celebrated score includes the classics "If Ever I Would Leave You," "The Simple Joys of Maidenhood," and the title song. TUTS presents the timeless masterpiece Camelot, running January 22 – February 3, 2013.

February 26 – March 10, 2013

Man of La Mancha

Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes' 17th-century masterpiece, the five-time Tony Award-winner Man of La Mancha is an epic story of knight-errant Don Quixote, his servant Sancho and the woman of his dreams, the lovely Dulcinea. The tale is set during the Spanish Inquisition and tells the romantic and noble journey of a man who sets out to right all wrongs and win the heart of a good woman as he duels windmills along the way. Deemed as one of the all-time great musicals of the American stage, the show features such memorable songs as "The Impossible Dream," and "I, Don Quixote". Man of La Mancha will enchant TUTS' audience members February 26 – March 10, 2013.

Spamalot

Back by popular demand, Monty Python's Spamalot is the outrageous musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." With music and lyrics by the Grammy Award winning team of Eric Idle and John Du Prez and book by Mr. Idle, Spamalot tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. This three-time Tony Award winning show, including the 2005 Tony for Best Musical, also features a chorus line of dancing divas and knights, flatulent Frenchmen, flying cows, killer rabbits, one legless knight and several show-stopping musical numbers. With songs like "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life" and "The Song That Goes Like This," the audience will eat up TUTS' presentation of Spamalot from May 14 – 26, 2013.

Flashdance – The Musical

What a feeling! Flashdance, the pop culture phenomenon and runaway international success, is now live on stage! It all started with a dream. To be bigger. To burn brighter. To dance harder. Now is the time to live the dream all over again. Based on the movie that defined a generation, Flashdance – The Musical tells the unforgettable story of Alex, a working-class girl from Pittsburgh striving to make her dreams of becoming a professional dancer a reality. Directed and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, Memphis, The Addams Family), this new musical features a score of smash hits including the Academy Award-winning title track "Flashdance - What a Feeling," "Maniac," "I Love Rock & Roll," along with 10 original songs. Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is Houston's acclaimed nonprofit musical theatre company whose mission is to enrich life through the experience of quality musical theatre and to positively impact lives beyond the stage through innovative education & community outreach programs. TUTS was the first theatrical organization in Houston to perform free to the public when it was founded in 1968 at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park and is the only Houston arts organization that has performed there free to the public every year since the theatre opened. Through a merger with The River Performing and Visual Arts Center (The River), TUTS provides an accessible and inclusive arts education for children of all abilities that will enhance their development into confident, balanced individuals. TUTS Education provides extended on-site programming as well as off-site programming for children in schools, hospitals and other community-based sites.
