Theatre C will present Echoes of Etta featuring William Blake on Saturday February 23 at Joes Pub located at 425 Lafayette Street, NYC.10003 at 9:30 pm.
Fresh off his win from the 2012 BWW NY Cabaret Awards as Best Male Vocalist, and two sold out performances at Birdland Jazz Club, William Blake (Lead/Co-Creator) and Co., are back to deliver Echoes of Etta: A Tribute to Etta James.
Theatre C Artistic Director Carlos Armesto states, "William Blake typifies the kind of uncommon artist we want to champion at Theatre C. His channelling of Etta James's radiant voice is mind-blowing. When we saw him at Birdland, we were riveted by his talent, and knew he was special. We are beyond excited to assist in sharing his talent at Joe's Pub".
Echoes is an energetic, no holds barred performance that will move you out of your seat. Blake, the Echoes band and gorgeous back-up singers, "The Peaches", excel with stellar musicality led by Michael Thomas Murray's (Musical Director/Arranger/Co-Creator) rockin' authentic period arrangements with a contemporary twist. This combined with one of the greatest songbooks of all time is sure to leave audiences highly satisfied with their experience. Blake delivers palpable life to these long loved classic songs in this musical testimonial to the legend who bridged the gap between Rock n Roll and Rhythm and Blues.
Fans can expect to hear many of their favorite Etta James tunes such as, A Sunday Kind of Love, At Last, Good Rockin' Daddy, I'd Rather Go Blind, and Something's Got A Hold On Me just to name a few. The Echoes band also features Michael Thomas Murray (piano), Levondo Thomas (bass), Steve Kelly (drums), Oscar Bautista (guitar), Jay Leslie (sax), and back-up singers "The Peaches", Shira Elias, Ashley Betton and Stephany Mora.
Time Out New York - "If any white man can pull this off, the gifted Blake might just be the one".
Will Friedwald - Wall Street Journal - "William Blake is a blues and soul belter of uncommon skill...With a piercing, full-bodied falsetto and dynamic attack".
