Theatre Aspen Presents A DEAD CELEB BALL Fundraiser, Mar. 10

By:

Theatre Aspen's annual benefit gala will be held on Saturday, March 10th at the Hotel Jerome.  The evening will feature dinner, DJ, silent and live auctions, games and dancing.  CK Swett, a rising star in the world of auctioneering, will preside over the live auction.  Swett, recently profiled in the New York Times, is also set to headline the TheatreWorks USA 50th Anniversary gala on February 12th.

Theatre Aspen's winter gala is the not-for-profit's most important fundraising event, raising money for an extensive year-round education program and an award-winning summer repertory theatre. This year's theme is "Dead Celeb Ball" – a cheeky celebration of favorite stars from the past, brought to life by the dress-up happy supporters of the theatre.

Theatre Aspen's upcoming summer season opens June 27th with Avenue Q (music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx and book by Jeff Whitty), followed by How I Became a Pirate (book, music and lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman), a new musical based on the beloved children's book by Melinda Long, opening July 11th.  The 39 Steps (adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan) will be the final entry in the repertory season.  Casting is underway and creative teams will be announced soon.

Theatre Aspen's Artistic Director, Paige Price said: "Each year we try to find a new element to jazz up the gala and this year we're thrilled to bring in the very theatrical CK Swett, who's making a name for himself at fundraisers. He's such an entertaining personality and the fact that he's so interested in donating his time to give back is amazing, in this tough economic climate."

Single tickets for Theatre Aspen's Dead Celeb Ball Benefit are tax-deductible. For further information contact Director of Development Beth Levin at 970-925-9313 x6. For more information, visit www.theatreaspen.org
