Theater Reconstruction Ensemble presents it's inaugural full-length production, a new staging of Ibsen's A Doll's House directed by John Kurzynowski. Nora's struggle to play the part of her husband's obedient little lark culminates in the door slam heard 'round the world. The ensemble examines the relationships between husband and wife, greed and power, desperation and necessity, and our own relationship to Ibsen's classic play.

THEATRE RECONSTRUCTION ENSEMBLE is a newly formed New York based collective of theater artists striving to reconstruct both classical and contemporary experiments in theater through the playful development of works over time. Committed to a collaborative approach to theater making, we function as an ensemble of actors, playwrights, designers, and directors working together to thoroughly examine each element of a theatrical text, from major themes to minute details, and collectively reconstruct the play, staying true to the original work while simultaneously using our own personal connection to the text to establish a structure in which to explore and invent.

John Kurzynowski (director) is the founder and Artistic Director of Theater Reconstruction Ensemble. With TRE, he has directed workshops of Chekhov's Three Sisters and Marlowe's Doctor Faustus. As a director, he has staged Thornton Wilder's Pullman Car Hiawatha for Target Margin Theater's Theater of Tomorrow Festival at The Chocolate Factory in Long Island City, Shakespeare's Hamlet for Organs of State at The Paradise Factory in Manhattan, and a workshop performance of Eugene O'Neill's A Long Day's Journey Into Night for Fresh Ground Pepper. He was also assistant to David Herskovits on Target Margin Theater's production of Tennesee Williams' Ten Blocks on the Camino Real at the Ohio, The Really Big Once workshops, and a developmental reading of Stuck Elevator, a new musical by Byron Au Yong and Aaron Jafferis. Natalie Robin (lighting & set design) is the winner of the 2011 Apollo Lighting Standing O Award. She is a NYC-based lighting designer of theater, opera, dance, music and performance art. She is a founding company member of Polybe + Seats and an Associate Artist of Target Margin Theater. She is also an adjunct faculty member in NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Department of Undergraduate Drama. In 2008, Natalie was chosen as a Young Designer to Watch by Live Design Magazine, for whom she is also a contributing writer. In 2009 and 2010, she participated in the Lincoln Center Directors Lab and has been a guest artist at Bard, Williams and Muhlenberg Colleges. She is the production manager of American Realness, a festival of contemporary performance curated by Ben Pryor. Natalie also tours several projects both domestically and internationally as a lighting supervisor and production manager. This season, Natalie is designing Second Language directed by David Herskovits with Target Margin Theater, A Streetcar Named Desire at Williams College and Mozart's Mitridate with little Opera Theatre of New York. Kate Marvin (sound design) is a sound designer and composer, Associate Artistic Director of Theater Reconstruction Ensemble and Associate Artist with TMT and Little Lord. Recent work: Second Language (Chocolate Factory), The Magic Flute: A Sound-Op Era (Brick), The Really Big Once (Ontological), Band Practice (Incubator Short Form Series), Thirst (Incubator), Blue Dress Reduction (PS122), Hamlet (Paradise Factory), Six Seeds (Space on White), Mountain Shouting (Ontological), Pullman Car Hiawatha (Chocolate Factory), Babes in Toyland (Ice Factory), The Deluge (Bushwick Starr), Old Comedy (CSC), The Name Means Public Spirited (HERE). Kate has also worked at Lincoln Center Theater and Nine Circles Chamber Theater.
