Theater Offensive Presents BIRTH OF A NASIAN 11/6-8
Birth of a nAsian makes its Boston Premiere! Starring Slanty Eyed Mama Nov 6 and 7 - 10pm Nov 8 - 7pm at Calderwood Pavilion $15 to $45
When a 35 year old Asian cheerleader meets a China Latina who can't seem to tick the right box at the unemployment office, you know that Slanty Eyed Mama is in the house. With a soundscape of electric violin played by Lyris Hung and words and flow by Kate Rigg, the Mamas penetrate stereotypes of Asian American identity and emerge rocking your world and loving you long time. Part character comedy, part standup, all music, Slanty Eyed Mama will let you in on the urban nuyorasian experience.
Slanty Eyed Mama recently completed a comedy special for LOGO. Kate hosted the Gay Pride Rally in Bryant Park NYC, and Slanty appeared at The Heritage Of Pride Awards, the Asian Heritage Festival in Union Square and Queens Pride NYC as well as bringing the funny to the We're Funny That Way Festival, The SF Queer Comedy Fest, Michigan Womyn's Music Fest, The Dinah Shore Weekend and benefits for APICHA, Guerilla Girls, Asian American Student Associations, and others.
