The York Theatre Company Launches Musical Conversations Series, Feb. 26

By:

The York Theatre Company has initiated Musical Conversations, a new series to educate and enlighten audiences on the past and present of musical theatre.

The series will launch with "How Musicals Are Made" on February 26th at 7 PM; the evening, as the title indicates, will explore the process of musical theatre creation. On March 5th at 7 PM, the series will turn to "The Musicals of Jule Styne," and will examine the output of the composer who penned music for classics such as Funny Girl and Gypsy as well as somewhat lesser-known shows like Bells Are Ringing and Do Re Mi. John Kenrick, the creator of Musicals101.com, will host the series.

The York Theatre Company in Saint Peter's Theatre is located at 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue. Regular tickets for the Musical Conversations series are $10 each, and can be ordered by calling (212) 935-5824, ext. 13.

The York Theatre Company is currently presenting Ed Dixon's musical Fanny Hill, based on the raunchy John Cleland classic, and starring Nancy Anderson and Emily Skinner, among others. Audience members who attend the 3 PM performance of Fanny Hill on Feb. 26 or on March 5 can attend Musical Conversations for free by showing their ticket stub.
