The Victory Gardens Access Project: Emerging Playwrights

VICTORY GARDENS ACCESS PROJECT NIGHT OF SCENES 2008


The Victory Gardens Access Project Artist Development Workshop will showcase scenes from twelve talented playwrights -with and without disabilities - at Night of Scenes 2008, Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Victory Gardens Greenhouse Theater, 2257 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. Night of Scenes begins at 6:30 pm with a reception and is followed by the showcase of selected scenes at 7:30 pm.  Night of Scenes 2008 is free and requires no reservations. The Artist Development Workshop, part of Victory Gardens' Access Project, teaches the art of playwriting and performance to individuals with and without disabilities. Night of Scenes 2008 represents the culmination of this workshop, and will showcase the final products of the artists. The featured playwrights include Mike Herzovi, Matt Lauterbach, Henry Ziesing, Kiel Moses, Sally Cooper, Rob Rotman, Mazen Istanbouli, Karen Martorano, Howard Timms, Todd Bauer, Sarah Ailey and Don Tenbrunsel.

Now in its 15th year, the Victory Gardens Access Project is a nationally recognized model outreach effort designed to involve people with
disabilities in all aspects of theater, both on and off the stage.  Through the program, Victory Gardens has been Chicago's earliest adopter of assistive services such as providing Sign Language interpreted performances, as well as captioned and audio-described shows, large-print and Braille programs, pre-show Touch Tours of the theater and set, dedicated wheelchair seating, and TTY phone lines.
