The Marsh is pleased to announce a Marsh Rising workshop performance of Angela Neff’s new solo show, Picnics at the Asylum. The play describes what it was like growing up in a large catholic family with a father who went from being the funniest Dad in Silicon Valley to the funniest street person on San Jose’s Skid Row. Neff takes us on a hilarious, outlandish and poignant journey, full of fireworks, psychedelic sunglasses and rockin' church services, as she examines the relationship of madness and love.

Developed with David Ford, the show plays on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 7.30 pm on The Marsh Main Stage, 1062 Valencia Street. For tickets, the public may call Brown Paper Tickets at 800-838-3006 or visit www.themarsh.org.

Neff has been working on Picnics at the Asylum at The Marsh for nearly three years. Her first solo play, “Thumbnail Moon,” was workshopped at San Francisco State University where she earned her B.A. in Creative Writing. Prior to that Neff performed and studied acting in various cities in the Western United States. Most recently, she has been fortunate to perform her solo works at The Marsh; The EXIT’s Thursday Night Combo and the Julia Morgan Center For The Arts’ Tell it on Tuesday.
