The Jungle Fun Room Makes its Regional Premiere at Studio Players 9/16-10/10

By:

"The Jungle Fun Room," Brian Hampton's comedy about struggling actors working children's parties at the zoo will open Studio Player's 2010-2011 season in Lexington, Kentucky this Thursday, September 16 ‌running through October 10.

"The Jungle Fun Room" was the winner of the Audience Favorite Award at the Penobscot Theatre's Northern Writes New Play Festival and received its World Premiere in last summer's New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC) at the Actors' Playhouse. Studio Players marks its Regional Premiere.

The story follows a group of struggling actors who are preparing for Maddie's sixth birthday at the New York City Zoo. For Screg, Eve, and Shelly, it's just another day at work. But when Trevor, an eager new worker, arrives fresh off the musical theatre conservatory boat, followed by Hillary Parker, the birthday girl's Oscar-winning Mom, it throws all involved into an emotional and hysterical loop where they're faced with past and present realties of their roles in show business -- and in life.

Established in 1952, Studio Players is Kentucky's oldest community-involved theatre located in The Carriage House Theatre in Lexington's picturesque and historic Bell Court.

The production is produced by Aubin Munn and Debbie Sharp and is directed by Bob Singleton. It includes the cast of Allie Darden (Shelly), Amy Faust (Hillary Parker), Alex Maddox (Trevor), Matt Seckman (Screg), and Jennifer L. Workman (Eve).
