The IT Awards Will be Held July 21st

The IT Awards (New York Innovative Theatre Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, will be announcing the 2008 nominees on Monday July 21st, 2008.

Located at the historic Off-Off Broadway venue, "Our Lady of Pompeii" at 25 Carmine Street (corner of Bleecker Street), where last year it was a standing-room only affair. Festivities commence at 7pm with cocktails and music. The 2008 Nominees will be officially announced to the public at 8pm. This year Nominees include 127 individual artists, 48 different productions and 40 theatre companies, from an adjudication pool of over 3,000 artists.

The party is open to all guests, and as always, come early, drink responsibly, and enjoy the companionship and vibrant energy of New York theater innovators.

The IT Awards are given annually to honor individuals and organizations who have achieved artistic excellence in Off-Off-Broadway theatre. The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation recognizes the unique and essential role Off-Off-Broadway plays in contributing to American and global culture, and believes that publicly recognizing excellence in Off-Off-Broadway theatre will expand audience awareness and appreciation of the full New York theatre experience. The New York Innovative Theatre Awards were founded to specifically honor Off-Off Broadway. Eligibility requirements for the IT Awards include:

Total production budget must be less than $40,000 (between $0 and $40,000).
· Ticket price must be $30 or less (between "Free" and $30).
· Performances must be in Brooklyn, Manhattan or Queens
· Producers must be based within the five boroughs of New York City.
