The Group Rep presents Neil Simon's BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, directed by Stan Mazin. BAREFOOT IN THE PARK opens Friday, September 24 at 8pm and runs through Sunday, October 31 at 2pm at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in the NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood. The play is produced by Britt Chichester and Linda Alznauer. Cast includes Mark Atha, Bix Barnaba, Michael Cassano, Britt Chichester, Robert Gallo, Henry Holden, Christian Kehoe, Krisztina Koltai, Melissa Soso, & Kathleen Taylor.

Love is in the air with Neil Simon's Tony nominated romantic comedy about newlyweds who, true to the times, don't really know each other yet - and argue about their differences. We witness the young couple, Corie and Paul, as they begin their married life in their newly acquired tiny 5th floor walk-up apartment in Manhattan. Paul is an uptight, strait-laced lawyer and Corie, a spontaneous free spirit. After a glorious six-day honeymoon, their real life begins - - and they discover that adjusting to married life isn't so easy!

The original production of BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, directed by Mike Nichols, opened on Broadway in 1963 and starred Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley as Paul and Corie. Replacements later in the run included Tony Roberts, RoBert Reed, Penny Fuller, and Joan Van Ark. The play ran for 1,530 performances, making it Neil Simon's longest-running Broadway show. Mike Nichols won the Tony Award for Best Director of a Play, and Tony nominations also went to Neil Simon and Elizabeth Ashley.
The play was revived on Broadway in 2006. It ran for 109 performances. The production starred Patrick Wilson as Paul, Amanda Peet as Corie, Jill Clayburgh as Corie's mother, and Tony Roberts as Victor Velasco.
The 1967 motion-picture version of BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, directed by Gene Saks from a screenplay by Neil Simon, starred Robert Redford as Paul, Jane Fonda as Corie, Charles Boyer as Victor, Mildred Natwick as Mrs. Banks, Herb Edelman as Harry, and James Stone as the Delivery Man. BAREFOOT IN THE PARK received several awards and nominations. Mildred Natwick, who played Corie's mother in the film, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Jane Fonda was nominated for the BAFTA for Best Foreign Actress, and Neil Simon also received recognition from the Writers' Guild of America.
