The Gamm presents Shakespeare's 'The Taming of the Shrew'
Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, directed Peter Sampieri, will be the Gamm Theatre's final production of the 2007 - 2008 season.
In The Taming of the Shrew, "Lucentio is in love with Bianca, the dutiful daughter of the wealthy Baptista Minola. Unfortunately Bianca already has two other suitors and her father will not let her marry until her older ill-tempered sister, Katherine, is wed. Lucentio's gold-digging friend Petruchio comes to town and arranges to meet and then marry Katherine against her will. A lively battle of the sexes unfolds, as Petruchio takes on the monumental task of 'taming' his unruly bride. Peppered with fast-paced dialogue and chock full of physical humor, it is a rough-and-tumble farce brimming with belly laughs," explains recent press notes.
Previews of The Taming of the Shrew begin on May 15, with regular performances running May 19 - June 15.
Preview performance ticket prices range from $15 - $20. Regular ticket prices are $27, with discounts for seniors and students.
Tickets can be purchased by calling (401) 723-4266 or at the Gamm box office at 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket, RI. Tickets are also available online at www.arttixri.com.
