The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas will open its doors at 'The Best Little Playhouse in Lake Worth' on April 11th and run through May 3rd

Director Jodie Dixon-Mears is wrangling a cast of football players, politicians and… ladies of the evening… as she and choreographer Marc Carmen put them through their paces in preparation for the four week run.

"This one's just a 'rockin', stompin' good time," says Dixon-Mears.  "I'm having a ball.  Super cast - lots of enthusiasm.  It's going to look great on stage!"

Regular Playhouse patrons will spot several familiar faces in the thirty-member cast, including Cindy Goldberg and Tom Cooch, both of whom were featured in the Playhouse's recent production of Thoroughly Modern Millie.  Jared Slota and Angel Wrona were part of last summer's Rocky Horror Show.  Dennis Schaber who will play the Governor has designed and directed many Playhouse productions, including last season's Wonderful Town.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is based on the true story of a legendary Texas brothel known as the Chicken Ranch, which operated for well over one hundred years.  The musical dramatizes the story of the house of ill-repute, which was finally closed down in the 1970s.  Although the thriving establishment was protected by a friendly Sheriff and frequented by politicians, football teams and others, a crusading do-gooder Houston radio commentator and his conservative audience exposed the Chicken Ranch, forcing it to shut its doors forever.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas will open on April 11th and run through May 3rd.  Performances are on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.   Tickets are $28 for front orchestra and $23 for rear orchestra. Tickets for all performances are on sale now and are available for purchase at the Playhouse box office at 561-586-6410 or via internet at: www.lakeworthplayhouse.org.  Group rates are also available; kindly contact the theater for information and prices.
