The Staten Island Children's Museum Sets Carnival & Science Spectacular for 6/8

By:

The Staten Island Children's Museum is hosting its first Carnival & Science Spectacular featuring traditional carnival games and rides, contests, live entertainment, and of course, cotton candy, all with an eye toward the science, technology, engineering and math behind the excitement. Our belief at the Staten Island Children's Museum has always been that children learn best through playing, touching, imagining and doing.

Children and families will enjoy interactive robotics demonstrations by SI Technical High School students, Lego engineering by students from St. Clare's, solar powered racers, cool science experiments with Wagner College students, the Science of the Circus with real Ringling Brothers clowns, and much more.

When: Saturday, June 8 from 1- 4 p.m. (SICM Members admitted at 12:30) rain date June 9
Where: SI Children's Museum, on the Meadow, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island

Tickets are available at www.statenislandkids.org, or at the Museum, $15 per person, Member and early-birds, $12.

STEM education is a major initiative of the New York City Education Department. Family-friendly events such as the Staten Island Children's Museum's Carnival & Science Spectacular help children and their families understand that STEM is more than just a subject in school, it is all around us every day; in the science of circus performers, the technology of solar power, the engineering possibilities while playing with Legos and the math involved in competitive games and carnival rides.

Raffle tickets are available for purchase at the Museum, $5 per ticket/6 tickets $25.
