The Pearl's THIS SIDE OF NEVERLAND Begins 4/19

By:

The Pearl Theatre Company completes its 29th season-the first season in its new home on West 42nd Street-with This Side of Neverland, a duo of one-act plays by J. M. Barrie. Running April 19-May 19, This Side of Neverland will feature J. M. Barrie's Rosalind and The Twelve Pound Look with direction by Artistic Director J. R. Sullivan.

Performances of This Side of Neverland will take place April 19-May 19 (see schedule above) at The Pearl Theatre. Critics are welcome as of Thursday, May 2 for an official opening of Sunday, May 5 at 7pm. The Pearl Theatre is located at 555 West 42nd Street in New York City. Tickets are $65 ($50 previews, $35 seniors, $20 student rush, $20 Thursday rush) and can be purchased by visiting pearltheatre.org or calling 212.563.9261.

Though best known as the creator of Peter Pan's dreamy Neverland, the prolific Scottish author and playwright J. M. Barrie (1860-1937) was also smitten with the waking whimsy of the grown-up world. "These works by J. M. Barrie feature his trademark wit and perceptive characterization, rich with his love of the theatre but also sharp in social commentary, a very fine fit for concluding the Pearl's 29th season," says Sullivan.

In Rosalind, a chance meeting propels a woman into an astonishing confession-much to the surprise of an adoring suitor. In The Twelve Pound Look, a gentleman's inconvenient encounter with a cheerful secretary sends his ego for a spin. With winking charm and affectionate wit, Barrie gives these delightful duos of incurable romantics a healthy dose of reality. As Barrie says in Rosalind, "Everything is real-except middle-age."

The cast in Rosalind features Pearl Resident Acting Company (RAC) member Carol Schultz as Dame Quickly, Pearl RAC member Rachel Botchan as Mrs. Page and Obie Award-winner and Pearl RAC member Sean McNall as Charles. The cast for The Twelve Pound Look features Pearl RAC member Bradford Cover as Sir Harry, Vaishnavi Sharma as Lady Sims, Pearl RAC member Rachel Botchan as Kate and Pearl RAC member Sean McNall as Tombes.

The creative team includes Gary Levinson (Sets), Elise VanderKley (Costumes), Stephen Petrilli (Lighting), Lindsay Jones (Sound), Kate Farrington (Dramaturg) and Dominic Cuskern (Production Stage Manager).
