The Midtown Men Play Bass Performance Hall, 12/1 & 2

By:

Performing Arts Fort Worth proudly welcomes The Midtown Men back to Bass Performance Hall for two shows on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at 2 and 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $38.50 and are on sale NOW!

The Midtown Men is a four-piece singing group comprised of four original cast members of Jersey Boys, the wildly popular Broadway musical based on the career of pop group Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. The Midtown Men consists of Tony Award-winner Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard and Tony Award nominee and onetime North Texan J. Robert Spencer.

Just in time for the holidays, the group recently released a new single, “All Alone on Christmas.” The original version of the track was written and produced by Steven Van Zandt, guitarist for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. With Van Zandt and other members of the E Street Band helping out, The Midtown Men recorded their own version of the song earlier this year; it’s now available on iTunes.

“I’m sure you’ll agree that they have conquered the recording studio the same way they took Broadway,” Van Zandt said in a press release. “The Midtown Men have arrived.”

All of the digital download proceeds will go to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.

The Midtown Men’s musical journey began when the members starred together in the original Broadway production of Jersey Boys. The four actors/singers shared the stage for more than 1,000 performances and can be heard on the Grammy Award-winning, multiplatinum Original Cast Album. “We found our own unique sound and chemistry recreating the music of The Four Seasons,” says Longoria. “And we continue to discover the magic of that truly amazing era in rock music.”

J. Robert Spencer spent five years as a North Texan, living in Plano, where much of his family still resides. After graduating cum laude from the musical theater program at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va., he landed a swing role in the musical Side Show. Eventually, he was cast as Nick Massi in Jersey Boys, a role he held from October, 2005 to September, 2008.

Spencer’s next role, as Dan Goodman in the Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical Next to Normal, garnered him a Tony nomination for Best Performance as a Leading Actor in a Musical.

The Midtown Men’s Bass Hall concerts will feature music from the foursome’s debut album, The Midtown Men: Sixties Hits, including “California Dreamin’ and “Happy Together.” The New York Times recently described the quartet as having, “the air of the Rat Pack, Motown and a nightclub act rolled into one.”
