The Kentucky Center Announces New Board Appointments and Reappointments

Governor Steve Beshear recently appointed a new member to the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts Board of Directors, and reappointed two others. Dave Calzi, managing partner of of the Louisville office of Ernst & Young, has been appointed to the Board for the first time. Former Metro Louisville First Lady Madeline Abramson has been reappointed as chairman, and consultant Don Parkinson has been reappointed as vice chairman.

Dave Calzi, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 29 years of experience advising companies and audit committees, has served in several key leadership roles in the local community. He has served on the boards of Greater Louisville Inc., the Muhammad Ali Center, the Catholic Education Foundation and the Fund for the Arts. He was also chairman of the Kentucky Society of CPA’s Educational Foundation Pave the Way Campaign, as well as the 2009 Metro United Way Campaign.

Madeline Abramson, current chairman of the Kentucky Center Board of Directors, was First Lady of Louisville for 21 years. She has served on the Board since 2001. In addition to her work with the Center, she has been a Red Cross volunteer for over 20 years and recently completed a two-year term as Chair of the Board of Directors of the organization. In 1998, she received the Ira J. Porter Award from the American Red Cross, which is the highest Red Cross award recognizing leadership contribution to the chapter.

Don Parkinson, current vice chair of the Kentucky Center Board of Directors, is the retired senior vice president of KFC Corp. In 2002, he served as interim president for The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts and later became Louisville Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson’s liaison for the arts. He has served on the Board since 1996. In addition to his participation on the Kentucky Center Board, he currently serves as a consultant to the business community.
