EMI Classics has announced the second album from world renowned conductor and arranger John Wilson and The John Wilson Orchestra, entitled Rodgers & Hammerstein: At The Movies . The album, which will be released on April 9th, showcases music from Rodgers & Hammerstein's best-loved musicals, including You'll Never Walk Alone (Carousel), Oh, What A Beautiful Mornin'! (Oklahoma) and I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair (South Pacific), all brought to life by John's handpicked ensemble of some of the world's finest musicians, as well as soloists Joyce DiDonato, Sierra Boggess, Anna-Jane Casey, Maria Ewing, Julian Ovenden, David Pittsinger, and the Maida Vale Singers.

Rodgers & Hammerstein: At The Movies was released on October 1st 2012 in the UK and shot immediately to #1 on the Amazon All-Genres Bestsellers chart, and debuted at #17 on the overall UK album charts amongst popular acts such as Coldplay and The xx.

Speaking of the origin of the program, John Wilson says: "I wanted to showcase these wonderful songs in the opulent - yet theatrical - film orchestrations which the composer himself had approved." A number of the scores were dug out of the Rodgers and Hammerstein's vaults especially for this recording, while one had to be transcribed from the original film soundtracks, so as a result the album is the first re-recording of many of these scores since the original movie sessions.

Ted Chapin, President, Rodgers & Hammerstein (An Imagem Company) says: "John honors what came before with the joy of discovery, and he lets us hear these classics with new ears. It's not often that I feel or say this, but I think Rodgers & Hammerstein would be very pleased - and perhaps a little astonished - at these remarkable performances."
The John Wilson Orchestra became a household name in the UK overnight with their extraordinary debut at the BBC Proms in 2009, performing That's Entertainment - A Celebration of the MGM Film Musical. The explosively popular televised concert has since become one of the most watched Proms of all time, with an acclaimed recording of the program released by EMI Classics and featured prominently on PBS last year. John Wilson has also worked extensively as an arranger for Sir Paul McCartney, and has contributed to sound track recordings for films including 'The Gathering Storm,' and in 2007 was nominated for a Grammy Award for 'Best Soundtrack' for Beyond the Sea starring Kevin Spacey as Bobby Darrin.
