The Goonies, the Steven
Spielberg-produced and Richard Donner-directed film, may have plans for
Broadway?
Unconfirmed rumors from JoBlo.com state Donner "is
actively pushing forward to get [The
Goonies]off the ground as a
Broadway play version of the original" and Warner Brothers is "enthusiastically
in support of it…Donner specified that while he will not be directing, he
intends on taking on the role of producer and wants 'creative influence' over
the production."
The Goonies (1985)
tells the adventurous story of a group of suburban kids who – with the help of
a secret pirate's map – find themselves in an underground world of caves, booby
traps, crooks and a befriending a tortured monster, Sloth.
The Goonies features
a screenplay by Christopher Columbus (director of the movie-musical adaptation
of Rent).
The film starred Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, Corey
Feldman, Kerri Green, Martha Plimpton, Jonathan Ke Quan and John Matuszak.
