The Fixx Performs at the Knitting Factory Tonight, 6/10

The English rock band, The Fixx, is set to perform at the Knitting Factory Brooklyn tonight, June 10th. The doors will open at 8 PM for the show at 9 PM. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at http://bk.knittingfactory.com/event/122881/.

Over the last three decades, the English rock band, The Fixx began with its 1982 debut album, “Shuttered Room,” and their commercially successful album “Reach the Beach." They were able to capture recognition for their hits “One Thing Leads to Another”, “Saved by Zero”, “Red Skies” and “Stand or Fall.” Due to the political overtones in the songs, they were able to receive sufficient airplay on MTV, before it became a fixture for reality television.

With their tenth studio album, “Beautiful Fiction,” Cy Curnin (vocals), Jamie West-Oram (guitar), Rupert Greenall (keyboards), Adam Woods (drums) and Dan K. Brown (bass), are prepared to fill a void in music with thought-provoking compositions. The theme of the album is said to be targeting the current frustrations and dilemmas that face the “99%,” with the first single, “Anyone Else,” being billed as anthem for our times. When speaking on the basis of the album, Curnin said, “As a whole, we were very focused on what was happening in the world around us and the legacy that was being left for our children, for everyone’s children. This album confronts our frustrations with the current socio-economic crises affecting the world, but it’s also quite hopeful.”

It appears that The Fixx continues to carry a message within their music by addressing the current affairs.
