Teen Idols Bobby Rydell and Lou Christie at Herbst November 15

By:

Bobby Rydell and Lou Christie, two teen sensations from the 1950's and 60's, will bring an evening of music to Herbst Auditorium, 401 Van Ness Ave., San Francisco on Saturday, Nov 15 at 8 PM. Their appearance marks a return to the area after a long absence for both performers and will provide the audience with a wonderful mix of past hits, great standards, and some new material. Tickets are $45- $75 and can be purchased at www.therrazzroom.com or directly through City Box Office at 415 392 4400.

Bobby Rydell's career spans several decades and encompasses film and television as well as selling over 25 million records. Through his debut as a rock and roll teen idol to starring in the film "Bye Bye Birdie" and countless television appearances throughout the world such as the Ed Sullivan show, and American Bandstand, he has had a stellar recording career which earned him 34 ‘top 40' records. Bobby's hits include Volare, Wild One, Forget Him and many others. Bobby is a classic performer, a superb singer, a drummer, actor and dancer as well. Beginning in the 1950's when he entertained swooning teenagers until today, Bobby continues to tour throughout the world with his solo act, and as part of "The Golden Boys" (with childhood pals Frankie Avalon and Fabian.)

Lou Christie's chart topping, multimillion selling career as a songwriter, recording artist, and performer started his first million selling song, The Gypsy Cried, and transformed him into a national teen singing sensation. Lou was more than just your average "teen idol". He was one of the rock music's first singer-songwriters. Over the entire decade of the 60's he followed success with greater success. Two Faces Have I was his next big hit featuring his stratospheric falsetto. Lou embedded himself and his uniquely talented voice into America's consciousness with his number 1 multimillion selling success, Lightning Strikes. His chart topping continued with two more million selling hits, Rhapsody in the Rain and I'm Gonna Make You Mine. Rhapsody's success was fueled by the fact that it was one of the first songs banned on the radio due to its suggestive lyrics!
