Teatro Oscuro in Association with Manhattan Theatre Source Present WHAT I MEANT WAS...

By:

The One-act Play is Alive and Well and Living in The Village in WHAT I MEANT WAS..., a smorgasbord of bizarre characters, hilarious stories, and quiet introspection. The evening and its characters prove that Vinnie Marano is one of the most versatile and original voices in New York independent theater today.

Working with award-winning directors Delisa White, Dev Bondarin, and Barbara Halas, Mr. Marano and their large and talented cast realize the strange and marvelous in these five short pieces: Artistic License, Wisemen, Words Fail, WrestleTalk and My Baby (nominated for a New York Independent Award for Best Short Play). Our vices and virtues are firmly in play as Mr. Marano explores the dramatic potential of desire-interrupted.

Recognized as "the embodiment of the Fringe" with his fanciful La Vigilia (FringeNYC, 2008), Mr. Marano has also directed his sold-out hit political satire A Collapse (Fringe 2006) and his award-winning Confirmation (Fringe 2009, Best Performance). WHAT I MEANT WAS... is a love letter to New York theater and all of the actors who have helped him realize his work for the last 20 years. The evening features James Michael Armstrong*, Angel M. Castillo, Tod Engle*, Elizabeth Fountain*, Annalisa Loeffler*, Ryan McCurdy, Ellie Pyle, James Rieser, Side 2 Side, Trevor Swann, Quinn Warren, and Laura Williams.

WHAT I MEANT WAS... will be performed at manhattan theatre source (177 MacDougal Street, between W 8th and Washington Square North) September 21st - October 1st, Wednesday through Saturday @ 8pm with a 3pm performance on Saturday, Oct 1st. Tickets are $18. This is an Equity Approved Showcase. For more info and to order tickets, visit
