Earlier this year, the Tony Award-winning Drama Book Shop, which will be celebrating its 100th birthday in 2017, suffered a setback after a water pipe burst caused extensive damage to the shop and half of its inventory.
Immediately, many prominent names theatre voiced their support for this beloved New York institution, including an internet campaign for sales generated by HAMILTON's Lin-Manuel Miranda. That's how important the Drama Book Shop is to the theatre community.
As they've been for 99 years, theatre luminaries still frequent the Drama Book Shop every day. Recently the store was paid a visit by producers Barry and Fran Weissler, whose current revival of CHICAGO is the longest running production of an American play or musical in Broadway's history. Also represented by the Broadway hits WAITRESS and FINDING NEVERLAND, they agree that the theatre community would be in trouble without this beloved emporium.
