Sam Shepard, Lois Smith
Signature Theatre's world premiere of HEARTLESS, written by Sam Shepard and directed by Daniel Aukin, opened on August 27th at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center. The cast includes Jenny Bacon, Gary Cole, Betty Gilpin, Julianne Nicholson, and Lois Smith. The production will run through September 30th. For full opening night coverage, click here!

Michelle Clunie, Jeff LeBeau
Celebrated actress, advocate and playwright Michelle Clunie, will premiere her new play US, beginning September 5 at Theatre Row’s Lion Theatre. Celebrity Autobiography with Scott Adsit, Alec Baldwin, Christie Brinkley, Illeana Douglas, Jerry O’Connell, Eugene Pack, and Dayle Reyfel played to sold-out houses at The John Drew Theater in East Hampton New York's Guild Hall over the weekend of August 24th. On Monday, August 27, cabaret star Jeff Harnar took to the Broadway at Birdland stage with a new show, “Does This Song Make Me Look Fat?” The packed house included theater and cabaret stars like Elaine Stritch, Lilliane Montevecchi, Julie Wilson, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Billy Stritch, Clint Holmes, Natalie Douglas, Colleen McHugh, Faith Prince, and writer Gay Talese. Michael Tucker, Jill Eikenberry
Cape May Stage, South Jersey’s premiere Equity theatre, welcomed back two of their favorite performers this week, husband-and-wife team Michael Tucker and Jill Eikenberry. Well known as the stars for eight seasons of NBC’s “L.A. Law,” the couple returned to Cape May Stage in MIKE'S SHORTS: a series of tales weaving the couple’s love of food with their love for each other. View more photo coverage of the event here.

Previews began August 24 for the Playwrights Horizons production of DETROIT, the New York premiere of the much-heralded new play by Obie Award winner Lisa D’Amour. The cast features two-time Tony Award winner John Cullum, Darren Pettie, Oscar and two-time Tony Award nominee Amy Ryan, Emmy Award nominee David Schwimmer and Sarah Sokolovic. Cast of Spider-Man
On Thursday, August 23rd, cast members from SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark (Matt Wilkas, Elizabeth Judd, Jodi McFadden, and Kristen Oei) performed at JFK airport to celebrate American Airlines as the new official airline of SPIDER-MAN. Check out more photos from the big event here!

Broadway’s new musical CHAPLIN opens September 10 at the Barrymore Theatre. The new musical depicts the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan and Christopher Curtis. After a three-year absence, Gerard Alessandrini’s Forbidden Broadway returns to the 47th Street Theatre with a brand new edition, Forbidden Broadway: ALIVE AND KICKING. The show will run for a limited engagement through January 6, 2013. This production will mark Forbidden Broadway’s 30th Anniversary, as well as its 21st edition. Pam MacKinnon with the first fan in line
In honor of its 50th anniversary return to Broadway this fall there was a special Box Office Opening Celebration at the Booth Theatre on August 30th. Tickets for all preview performances were available for a special price and the first 25 participants in line when the box office opened received a signed copy of the script by three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee. The production will be directed by Tony Award nominee Pam MacKinnon (Clybourne Park) and will feature the original Steppenwolf cast led by Tracy Letts and Amy Morton.
