THE LANGUAGE ARCHIVE Concludes Limited Engagement 12/19
By: Gabrielle Sierra
Roundabout Theatre Company's (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) limited engagement of The Language Archive will play its final performance on Sunday, December 19th at 2:00 PM. The Language Archive, a new play by Julia Cho, directed by Mark Brokaw features Betty Gilpin (Emma), John Horton (Resten), Jayne Houdyshell (Alta), Matt Letscher (George) & Heidi Schreck (Mary).
On December 19th, The Language Archive will have played 28 preview performances and 72 regular performances. The Language Archive opened officially on October 17th, 2010, Off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 West 46th Street). The Language Archive is a poignant and quirky comedy that seems to prove love is the one language that can leave us all at a loss for words. George is a man consumed with preserving and documenting the dying languages of far-flung cultures. Closer to home, though, language is failing him. He doesn't know what to say to his wife, Mary, to keep her from leaving him, and he doesn't recognize the deep feelings that his lab assistant, Emma, has for him.Roundabout commissioned The Language Archive, which won the 2010 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize awarded to an outstanding new English-language play by a woman. The play had its world premiere at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California in March 2010, produced by special arrangement with Roundabout and directed by Roundabout Associate Artist Mark Brokaw.TICKET INFORMATION:
