THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST Opens 9/25 At The Alden Theatre

By:

Fridays and Saturday Evenings at 8pm September 25, 2009 - October 10, 2009
Matinee on Sunday, September 27 and on Saturday, October 3 at 2pm
All performances are at the Alden Theatre in the McLean Community Center 1234 Ingleside Ave, McLean, VA 22101

Directed by Carol Strachan and Produced by Terry Yates

Set in England during the late Victorian era, the play's humor derives in part from characters maintaining fictitious identities to escape unwelcome social obligations. It is replete with witty dialogue and satirizes some of the foibles and hypocrisy of late Victorian society. It has proved to be Oscar Wilde's most enduringly popular play.

Special pre-show lecture
On Saturday, October 3rd, at 1pm, Rick Davis (co-artistic director of the Theater of the First Amendment at George Mason University as well as Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education) will discuss the playwright and his work.
