THE STRANGER TO KINDNESS to Play FRIGID New York Festival, 2/23-3/3

THE-STRANGER-TO-KINDNESS-to-Play-FRIGID-New-York-Festival-223-33-20010101

FRIGID NEW YORK, D&A Productions, Goode Productions & Fab Marquee Productions will present the award-winning one-act THE STRANGER TO KINDNESS by David Stallings, directed by Heather Cohn. THE STRANGER TO KINDNESS will play 5 performances from February 23rd through March 3rd, 2012 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th St) as part of the 2012 FRIGID New York Festival.

“Deftly written [David Stallings] and ably performed by its small cast, STRANGER shows the effect that individuals have on one another and reminds us that often a friend can be closer than family and family can be strangers.

The play features a heartbreaking performance by Susan G. Bob as Lena, a lonely woman whose friend and neighbor, Nance, stops answering her door. Hoping for the best, but fearing the worst, Lena calls the police and Nance’s son. Worried about Nance’s fate and disturbed by the son’s reaction, Lena is forced to look at her own life and the unyielding loneliness that can be found even in one of the world’s largest cities.

Director Heather Cohn accentuates every ounce of feeling in Stallings’ script to create a moving and memorable evening.”

Byrne Harrison (StageBuzz)

Years of routine bind Lena and Nance, two lonely senior women from the Upper West Side. When Nance no longer answers her door, Lena takes it on herself to call the police and her friend’s family. What arrives is a strange dose of animosity and generousness from unlikely places.

Reprising their roles are Susan G. Bob* (Winner Outstanding Actress for The Stranger to Kindness, PCTF Awards; Broadway: No Place to be Somebody [Pulitzer Prize Winner]) and Antonio Miniño (Nominated Outstanding Actor for The Stranger to Kindness, PCTF Awards). Joining the cast is Mick Hilgers*.

THE STRANGER TO KINDNESS will play 5 performances:

Thursday, February 23rd at 6pm
Sunday, February 26th at 2:30pm
Wednesday, February 29th at 9pm
Thursday, March 1st at 7:30pm
Saturday, March 3rd at 4pm

Tickets are $16 ($15 Students/$12 Seniors). Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.Smarttix.com, or by calling 212-868-4444. Tickets may also be purchased at the theatre’s box office half hour before performance.

The Kraine Theater is located at 85 East 4th Street (North side of East 4th St, between The Bowery and 2nd Avenue).
