THE LOVES OF MISS JIMMIE LEROY to Play Stage Left's Left Out Festival, 4/21 & 25

By:

Sometimes lesbian love means you'd like to strangle your ex, if only you didn't need her so desperately.

It's 1942 and Miss Jimmie LeRoy is desperate to reunite with the love of her life, when her ex-lover Margery shows up, ready to reopen old wounds, recall glory days, and remind Jimmie that even bitter old love can be sweet.

The Left Out Festival will premiere Margaret Morrison's play The Loves of Miss Jimmie LeRoy on April 21 and 25, 2013 in NYC.

The Loves of Miss Jimmie LeRoy is an excerpt of Morrison's play in development, a sequel to the lesbian love story, Home In Her Heart. This new two-woman play poignantly explores the hidden lives of lesbians, the erotic charge of coming out, and the emotional storm of needing help from the lover who has hurt you the most.

Morrison's work has been featured in the Left Out Festival twice before - the solo piece Dyke Astaire in 2010, and last year's Home In Her Heart. An internationally acclaimed tap dance soloist and choreographer, Morrison's research and performance projects address race, gender, queer sexuality, history and tap dance.

Morrison stars in this production, along with Cheryl King, who also directs the play.

Performances are at 2:00 pm on April 21 (paired with Ean Kessler's Brotherly Love) and 7:30 on April 25 (paired with Topher Cusumano's You're a Good Boy, Abercorn)

The Sixth Annual Left Out Festival - a celebration of LGBT theatre - will run April 20-30 at Stage Left Studio. This annual festival is a benefit for Bailey House (www.baileyhouse.org) which provides housing and support for people living with HIV and AIDS.

Stage Left Studio is located at 214 W 30th Street, 6th floor, NYC (Between 7th & 8th Aves) www.stageleftstudio.net.
