Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with your favorite Broadway stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!
In this week's edition, we caught up with Luca Padovan, who stars as 'Billy' in School of Rock, playing at the Winter Garden Theatre.
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
The first Broadway show I saw was
The Little Mermaid (starring
Sierra Boggess)!
What is your most unique pre-show ritual?
The practical stuff I do before the show is I drink tea, steam and warm up but I guess the fun thing I do is have a
Hamilton dance party before every show.
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?
My most memorable "the Show Must Go On" moment is at the beginning of "Stick it To The Man" I started to have a nosebleed so I had to do the rest of the number sniffing up blood so I wouldn't get it on my costume or sets. Another most memorable "the Show Must Go On" moment is when I was in
Newsies, I had a loose tooth right before "King of New York" and I asked my guardian, Vanessa to pull it out because I was afraid of losing it on stage. She did, I screamed and got shushed because it was so loud that the audience could probably hear me. I went on stage and did the entire number swallowing blood from the lost tooth! I guess I have had many bad experiences with blood.
What is the one role you want to play before you die?
There are many roles I want to play before I die and I can't think of just one! So here goes: The Baker in
Into the Woods, Fiyero in
Wicked, The Phantom in
Phantom of the Opera, and Alexander Hamilton in
Hamilton.
Who is your Broadway crush?
My Broadway crushes are:
Sara Chase and
Laura Osnes.
