The 2012 Grammy nominations were announced earlier tonight in an hourlong concert on CBS, and the nominees for "Best Musical Theater Album" were THE BOOK OF MORMON, ANYTHING GOES, and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING.

Nominees for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, a traditionally theatre-heavy category include Duets II - Tony Bennett & Various Artists, The Gift - Susan Boyle, In Concert On Broadway - Harry Connick Jr., Music Is Better Than Words - Seth MacFarlane & What Matters Most - Barbra Streisand Sings The Lyrics Of Alan And Marilyn Bergman - Barbra Streisand.

In the remaining categories, Kanye West topped the nominations with seven; Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars each garnered six nods; and Lil Wayne and Skrillex each are up for five awards. Drake, Paul Epworth, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, Nicki Minaj, Mumford & Sons, Radiohead, Rihanna, and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) each received four nominations.

All three musical theater nominees opened this spring and are still running at their respective theatres. Last year's award, then named "Best Musical Show Album," went to Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT.

THE BOOK OF MORMON was the recipient of nine 2011 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. ANYTHING GOES received three Tony Awards including Best Revival, for which HOW TO SUCCEED was also nominated.

The 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on "GRAMMY Sunday," Feb. 12, 2012, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on CBS from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
