The Anarchist, the new play written and directed by David Mamet, which began previews at the newly refurbished Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, and opened on Sunday, December 2, 2012, will give its final performance today, Sunday, December 16, 2012, at 3:00pm. Upon closing, the production will have played 23 previews and 17 performances.

The production stars two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone, who previously appeared in Mamet's The Woods, All Men are Whores, The Blue Hour, The Water Engine, Edmond and The Old Neighborhood; and three-time Academy Award nominee Debra Winger, whose previous stage credits include How I Learned to Drive and Ivanov at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts and The Exonerated in New York. Winger is making her Broadway debut in The Anarchist.

In The Anarchist, LuPONE plays the title character and WINGER plays a prison official -these actresses will make theatrical fireworks as one character, put away for life, wants out while the other wants to make sure she stays inside. This explosive new work by MAMET is about passion, redemption, deception, and revolution. Mamet, who brought a fierce sense of pace and excitement to the direction of his own Race, will once again be at the helm of the production.

From Evita to Gypsy, Two-time Tony Award -winner Patti LuPone is a true Broadway legend with an extensive history with David Mamet on both stage and screen, including Heist, State and Main and The Old Neighborhood. Celebrated for her critically-acclaimed work in An Officer and a Gentleman, Terms of Endearment, and Shadowlands, three-time Oscar nominee Debra Winger was most recently seen in the film Lola Versus, and on the hit HBO series, "In Treatment." This rare stage appearance marks the Broadway debut for this celebrated actress.

THE ANARCHIST features scenic and costume design by Academy Award winner Patrizia von Brandenstein (Amadeus) and lighting design by Tony Award winner Jeff Croiter (Peter and the Starcatcher).

The world premiere production of David Mamet's new play The Anarchist is presented on Broadway by Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, Howard & Janet Kagan, JAM Theatricals, Catherine Schreiber, Luigi & Rose Caiola, Gutterman Chernoff MXKC, Kit Seidel, Broadway Across America, Amy & Phil Mickelson, James Fuld Jr., Carlos Arana/Bard Theatricals, and Will Trice.
