Theatre Communications Group (TCG) announces the publication of 4000 Miles & After the Revolution: Two Plays by Amy Herzog, "one of the brightest new talents in the theatre" (New York Times).

Known for delicately detailed character studies that subtly balance humor and insight, Amy Herzog has crafted a quiet rumination on mortality and how two outsiders find their way in today's world with 4000 Miles, in which a young man seeks solace from his feisty 91-year-old grandmother in her New York apartment. Her other critical hit, After the Revolution, is a bold and moving portrait of an American family forced to reconcile its thorny and delicate legacy.

"Plays as truthful and touching and fine as Amy Herzog's 4000 Miles come along once or maybe twice a season, if we're lucky... This is the rare theatrical production that achieves perfection on its own terms. - New York Times

4000 Miles, a 2013 Pulitzer Prize Finalist and 2012 Obie Award winner, was written for the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab in NYC and received its world premiere at Lincoln Center Theater in 2011. After the Revolution, declared one of the New York Times's Best New Plays of 2010, was commissioned by and received its world premiere at Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2010, followed by a NYC premiere at Playwrights Horizons later that same year.

"After the Revolution is a smart, funny and provocative play... Written with an extraordinary balance of insight, humor and surprise, it's totally engaging. ? Variety

Amy Herzog received the 2011 Whiting Writers' Award and the 2008 Helen Merrill Award for Aspiring Playwrights. Her plays have been produced or developed at the Yale School of Drama, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Arena Stage, Actors Theatre of Louisville, New York Stage and Film, Playwrights Horizons, Provincetown Playhouse and American Conservatory Theater. Her critically acclaimed works includeBelleville and The Great God Pan.
