TACTA Presents ELEKTRA by Sophocles, 11/13-11/22
Tulsa Area Community Theatre Alliance presents Elektra by Sophocles Friday, November 13 through Sunday, November 22 at Tulsa Community College.
Elektra (first written in 410 BC) is the classical Greek legend of murder, exile, and revenge in a doomed family tragedy. Elektra’s father, Agamemnon, was murdered by Elektra’s mother, Klytaimnestra, and her lover Aigisthos. Elektra saved her young brother Orestes from the same fate by sending him away. Banished to the life of a servant, the young woman’s grief turns to a thirst for revenge with a single minded ferocity which grows as the years pass. Orestes later returns, and together, he and Elektra vow to murder their mother and her lover in order to avenge their father.
The Thursday night performance will be sign interpreted for the deaf and hard of hearing.Friday night performances will be followed by a ‘Talk Back,’ allowing audience, cast, and designers to share opinions of the show.Tickets are $10. To purchase tickets visit www.tickets.com.
