Szymkowicz's Dark Romantic Comedy NERVE Plays 6/5-20 At Echo Theatre Company

Echo Theatre Company presents the Midwest premiere of Adam Szymkowicz's comedy, Nerve, from June 5-20. Starring Jeff Loyd and recent two-time Kevin Kline Award winner Colleen Backer, the play is directed by Artistic Director Eric Little.

The production will be held in Echo's performance venue, Theatre 134, in the ArtSpace at Crestwood Court. The theater is located in the Crestwood Court shopping center at the corner of Watson and Sappington Roads (formerly Crestwood Plaza Mall).

Description: Elliot has never had an online date before... at least one that showed up. Susan has had plenty but would prefer not to discuss them. When they meet in a bar one night, all their neuroses come out. So do a puppet, some modern dance and a desperation that may or may not be love.

Nerve is a dark romantic comedy about falling into a relationship on the first date.

Performance dates are June 5-7, 11-14 and 18-20, 2009.

Show times are at 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at 7:00 p.m. on Sundays. In addition to the regular 8:00 p.m. performance on Saturday, June 20, a late-night show will be performed at 10:30 p.m.

Adam Szymkowicz's plays have been produced or developed throughout the U.S. and in Canada, England, The Netherlands and Lithuania, at such places as MCC Theater, Ars Nova, South Coast Rep, Playwright Horizons, LAByrinth Theater Company, Julliard, Manhattan Theatre Source, and Clubbed Thumb. His plays include Nerve, Deflowering Waldo, Open Minds, Anne, The Art Machine, Food For Fish, Hearts like Fists, Herbie, Incendiary, Bee Eater, Temporary Everything, and Susan Gets Some Play. Adam is a two-time Lecomte du Nouy Prize winner, a member of the Dramatists Guild, and a founding member of Ars Nova Play Group.

Echo Theatre Company is an ensemble driven company whose mission is to champion bold, contemporary works that provoke, excite and entertain.
