In the cycle of life, burlesque shows are born, get covered in glitter and various sticky substances, and ultimately pass through the veil to world beyond ... some shows more than once. On Monday, January 18th the unsinkable Sweet and Nasty Burlesque - the most-cancelled show in striptease - celebrates it's third and most recent untimely demise at MEMENTO MORI.

Part Irish wake, part Viking funeral, part Second Line and part unholy experiment in reanimation, MEMENTO MORI will pay tribute to the burlesque show that cannot die. "We may have gone through three or four lives already," says host and producer Nasty Canasta, "but as a result of a long-standing deal with a certain ... chthonic individual, Sweet and Nasty has at least five lives left. I'm confident that, through a careful mix of strategic striptease, cheap whiskey, and the black arts, we shall rise to twirl tassels again - maybe sooner than anyone imagines. In the meantime, we'll mourn in the quiet, tasteful, traditional way: by getting naked onstage in front of a roomful of strangers."

Since 2006, Sweet and Nasty has been adding its own unique mix of glam camp, historical fact, and blatant lies to the New York burlesque scene, and currently appears monthly at Public Assembly in Williamsburg; their January spectacular, MEMENTO MORI, is the funereal centerpiece of a jam-packed night of couple-friendly, risqué entertainment that will begin with go-go by Victoria Privates at 9:30 pm, and continue after the show with tunes from DJ Broadway Brassy.

Sweet and Nasty is survived by host and producer Nasty Canasta; Anita Cookie and Clams Casino; Doc Wasabassco, GiGi La Femme, Jezebel Express, Jo Boobs, Jonny Porkpie, Precious Little; official widow Ruby Valentine; harbinger of doom Schaffer the Darklord, and more. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you enjoy the nudity and share the booze at MEMENTO MORI - at Public Assembly for one night only, Monday, January 18 at 10pm.
