Benjamin Utecht is taking the country by storm. The singing footballer made a name for himself last year on a nationwide tour with Jim Brickman where he inspired audiences night after night with his impressive tenor vocals. His classical crossover style took many fans and journalists by surprise, including USA Today who stated in a Sports section cover feature that Utecht was “living his own variation of the American dream: He has that Super Bowl ring AND the voice of an angel.”
Utecht was recently chosen to perform the national anthem at Indianapolis’ Super Bowl Village – a family friendly event that will transform the heart of downtown into a ten-day, three-block interactive festival of football – on February 4th at 5:30pm on the Pepsi Stage (Meridian and Georgia Streets) and at the Indiana Pacers’ game that same evening at 7:00pm in Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Utecht also has plans to reunite with his mentor Jim Brickman in New York City’s Best Buy Theater for a special concert appearance celebrating romantic music just days before Valentine’s Day on Sunday, February 12th at 4:00pm. The show will also reunite him with renowned alto Anne Cochran, who was his duet partner for the entirety of the Christmas tour to much acclaim. Tickets for the show can be purchased through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com.
