Sterling's Upstairs Looking Good at One

Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's restaurant marked its one year anniversary this past Saturday night with Three of a Kind.  This trio, made up of Gelo Francisco, Annie Nepomuceno and Bonifacio Deoso from the Broadway productions of Miss Saigon, Passion and The King and I delighted a sold out crowd in the cozy sophistication of Sterling's upstairs.

The trio kept hands clapping with diverse and upbeat medleys honoring the 70's, the Four Tops, and a menagerie of famous Italian ballads, which was served perfectly alongside the scrumptious Italian atmosphere.  Three of a Kind worked some campy humor and moves into their set which kept the mood light and the laughter plentiful.

With only two songs of the set originating from Broadway shows some were left wishing for more, especially after Bonifacio Deoso's goose bump rising rendition of "Why God, Why?" from Miss Saigon which left jaws agape.

Three of a Kind engaged the crowd with their talent and humor and did Sterling's proud.  A touching moment occurred when an emotional Michael Sterling re-dedicated the club to the late great Rosemary Clooney.  The audience responded with a warm round of applause and delight as Chardonnay was passed around to toast the one year anniversary of this hidden gem in Studio City.

Sterling's Upstairs has a great future ahead of it with patrons such as Bernadette C. Peters (who performed in the first show) and Sylvia Brooks who will be returning to Sterling's on June 30th.

For reservations and additional information, call Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's (818) 981-3077.  The club's web site is: www.myspace.com/sterlingsupstairs.
