Steppenwolf Theatre Company Names Jeffrey Fauver as Communications Director

By:

Steppenwolf Theatre Company today announces the appointment of Communications Director Jeffrey Fauver.  Fauver will begin at Steppenwolf on February 21, 2012.

“We are extremely pleased to have Jeffrey join our Marketing, Publicity and Communications team.  He brings valuable experience to Steppenwolf and has a proven track record of promoting some of Chicago’s leading productions at the Goodman and Chicago Shakespeare.  He has an understanding of the ensemble ethic and has a deep commitment and passion for theater—as a communication specialist, theater-goer and volunteer for storefront theaters,” comments Executive Director David Hawkanson.

Communications Director Jeffrey Fauver has worked as a public relations specialist with Goodman Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare Theater, both among the nation’s most highly-regarded regional theaters. He has led successful publicity campaigns for a variety of acclaimed productions, including the 2009 Pulitzer Prize-winning Ruined by Lynn Nottage (a co-production with Manhattan Theatre Club); the world premiere of David Henry Hwang’s Chinglish (subsequently on Broadway); Toneelgroep Amsterdam’s Rouw Siert Electra, directed by Ivo van Hove, as part of the Goodman’s 2009 international festival dedicated to the work of Eugene O’Neill; the fifth biennial Latino Theatre Festival, featuring the American premiere of Cuba’s Teatro Buendía; the world premieres of The Long Red Road, directed by Phillip Seymour Hoffman, starring Tom Hardy;Magnolia by Regina Taylor, directed by Anna Shapiro, and El Nogalar by Tanya Saracho, directed by Cecilie Keenan; and Passion, directed by Gary Griffin, starring Ana Gasteyer.

“I am thrilled to be working with Martha Lavey, David Hawkanson, Director of Marketing and Communications Linda Garrison, the staff and ensemble at Steppenwolf—the quintessential Chicago theater company, and one of America’s cultural treasures,” notes Fauver. “The mission of the company and the work that it produces is something I have a real passion for, and I look forward to making my contribution in the capacity of Communications Director.”

Fauver is a board member and the former Managing Director of The Ruckus Theater, a storefront company dedicated to the development of new work and the artists who create it, based in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. He has served on panels for the Illinois Arts Council, the planning committee for the Tessitura Learning Community Conference, the junior board of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and he volunteers for the Chicago League of Lady Arm Wrestlers (CCLAW), a branch ofSideshow Theatre Company.
