Stephen Carrasco, Andrea Goss and More Set for Concert to Benefit Artists for World Peace Today, 11/4

Today, November 4, 2012, a troupe of Broadway's most promising young performers will stage an evening of song and dance at St. Luke's Theatre, 308 West 46th Street, New York City. Lee Godburn, an artist and a producer, and Mamma Mia! cast member Sharone Sayegh are producing the event. Tickets are $100 and are available online at www.artistsforworldpeace.org. Admission to the after party is available for an additional $25. All proceeds will support the ongoing work of Artists for World Peace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit fund-raising and grant-making foundation based in Middletown.

The evening will begin at 8:00 p.m. with a pre-show cocktail hour and silent auction, followed by the 9:00 p.m. performance. The benefit will feature the following singers: Stephen Carrasco (Ghost, Billy Elliot, White Christmas), Andrea Goss (Once, Rent), Raymond J. Lee (Anything Goes, Mamma Mia!), Carrie Manolakos (Wicked, Mamma Mia!), Marissa McGowan (A Little Night Music, Bonnie and Clyde, Les Misérables), Ryann Redmond (Bring It On), Sharone Sayegh (Mamma Mia!), Steven Taylor (Lion King), Blake Whyte (Mamma Mia!, Wicked), and Alex Wyse (Lysistrata Jones, Bare).

An original Bollywood dance piece choreographed by Monica Kapoor (Mamma Mia!, Smash) will close the performance. The dancers include Deanna Aguinaga (West Side Story, A Chorus Line, Mamma Mia!), AJ Fisher (Mamma Mia!), Andrew Chapelle (Mamma Mia!), Monica Kapoor (Mamma Mia!), Paul HeeSang Miller (Mamma Mia!), Traci Victoria (Mamma Mia!), and Leah Zepel (Mamma Mia!).

“The generosity of the contributing Broadway performers is overwhelming,” said Wendy Black-Nasta, founder and director of Artists for World Peace. She anticipates that their efforts will result in an outstanding fund-raiser for the organization. Each singer will wear the International Peace Belt during his or her performance, as will one of the Bollywood dancers. The coins and gems in the sterling silver belt represent 155 countries. Designed and built by Black-Nasta, its completion in 2003 led to the foundation of Artists for World Peace.

Artists for World Peace links communities of artists with communities in need. Working from an art-centered perspective and as members of the global arts community, the organization supports sustainable development worldwide by sending kids to school, making interest-free microloans, and helping people develop partnerships and networks.

Tickets are available online at www.artistsforworldpeace.org. Tickets are $100 or $125 per person. All tickets must be purchased in advance.

Artists for World Peace on Broadway will take place tonight, November 4, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. Wine and cheese will be served from 8:00–9:00 p.m., and the performers will take the stage from 9:00–10:30 p.m. The after party will begin about 15 minutes later.
