Stephanie Block, Richard Blake & More Join AN EVENING CELEBRATION OF MUSIC, 10/24

On October 24th, the African Children's Choir (ACC) will host their 3rd annual New York City fundraising gala at the Highline Ballroom. Announced today are five well-known Broadway additions in the star-studded line up.

Stephanie Block who has appeared on the Broadway stage in 9 to 5, Wicked, The Boy From Oz among others, Marty Thomas who was seen in Xanadu, Wicked and The Secret Garden, Richard Blake currently Fijero in Wicked, Jackie Burns currently Elphaba in Wicked and finally Chauntée Schuler currently Nala in The Lion King. This year's event is co-hosted by Connie Britton, Carla Gugino and Taylor Kitsch and brings together a plethora of stars with the children in celebration of and to raise money for the renowned organization. The Choir today announced the details of this year's gala and its special guests and performers.

Co-hosts include Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, The West Wing, 24), Carla Gugino (Watchmen, Entourage), Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Stephanie Block (9 to 5, Wicked, The Pirate Queen, The Boy from Oz), Marty Thomas (Xanadu, Wicked, The Secret Garden), Richard Blake (Wicked), Jackie Burns (Wicked), Chauntée Schuler (The Lion King), Stephen Baldwin (Movies include The Young Riders, The Usual Suspects and Threesome), Jim Brickman (The most charted male Adult Contemporary artist to date, hits include ‘Valentine,' ‘Simple Things' & ‘The Gift'), Mario Cantone (Sex and the City, Surf's Up), Kimberley Locke (Most charted American Idol participant in the Dance and AC genres, four #1 singles on the Billboard Music Charts, co-host of upcoming ABC show The Revolution with Tim Gunn), Robin Meade (HLN anchorwoman, New York Times Bestselling author, recording artist), Ben Utecht (former NFL Super Bowl XLI-winning tight end with the Indianapolis Colts, currently following his music passion with guidance from industry great Jim Brickman and drawing comparisons to Josh Groban) and many more!

The concert includes well-loved children's songs, popular gospel tunes and lively spirituals as well as the guest stars' own hits and favorites. Through their songs and dances, the Choir brings Africa alive, in all its color and splendor creating a truly unforgettable musical experience.

The African Children's Choir is made up of children from the poorest countries of the world whose voices have been heard by world leaders and the top performers the entertainment world and, over the past 26 years have raised millions of dollars to educate and rebuild countries devastated by famine, war and AIDS.

The Choir is comprised of 24 African children, ages seven to eleven. Each child in the Choir has lost one or both parents to poverty, war or AIDS. In their countries, education is not free, so through the efforts of the Choir, the sponsor, Music for Life, is able to educate 6500 children in seven African nations.
