Stage Left Studio's STABILIZED NOT CONTROLLED Adds Performances, 5/29-30

Four weeks of full houses for STABILIZED NOT CONTROLLED have prompted theatre owner Cheryl King to add two performances following the Memorial Day Weekend. Frank Blocker's very-New York, tour-de-force comedy will perform May 29 and 30, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 pm, Stage Left Studio, 214 W 30th Street. Weekly shows continue Sundays at 5:00 pm through May and June.

King has been nursing the play through development at the boutique midtown Studio Theatre, located just one block South of Penn Station. The script utilizes actual quotes from New York City situations seen and heard by playwright and performer Blocker. Cheryl King is one of the plays dramaturges as well as producer. She originally directed Blocker in his Drama Desk Award-nominated performance in 2009 of Southern Gothic Novel: The Aberdeen-Mississippi, Sex-Slave Incident.

The show has yet to announce an extension as Blocker may be in-demand for performances of Novel that are currently under consideration and negotiation in other states.

THE PLOT: Meet evil landlord "Killer" Joe and his arch nemesis, Lorna Breedlove, a rent-stabilized septuagenarian sex addict (in recovery). The battle rages over a five-floor walk-up occupied by a Log Cabin-accountant, an aging stoner, "fake English" actress, and homeless squatter Jackie O'Nasa. Joe will stop at nothing, but if the tenants can come together, they won't have to face the alternative. Leave Manhattan? Not on your life! This dark comedy is delivered by acclaimed solo artist and Drama Desk Award-nominee Frank Blocker. The play was developed using actual New York City conversations and scenes witnessed.

King herself has been garnering critical praise for her solo performance in the "furiously funny" play Grapefruit, by Sally Lambert and directed by Theresa Gambacorta, now in its ninth month. She will also appear in improv sketches with Blocker and fellow actor TC Corwin at the monthly show Forbidden Kiss Live, now in its sixth year.
